"Conceptualized from a child's early scribbles that turned into a series of dancing arches, the school is an experiment with materials and forms. A scribble is indicative of not being instructed, but having the freedom to express yourself in the form of wavy, crooked lines, the only form a child knows. The dancing arches are a reminder of this freedom." School of Dancing Arches 🖊️ Samira Rathod Design Associates 📍Bhadran, Gujarat 388530, India 📸 Niveditaa Gupta #archdaily #architecture #architectureindia #educationalarchitecture

Xylem, the gathering pavilion for the Tippet Rise Art Center, has been designed by Francis Kéré as a quiet, protective shelter for the visitors of the ranch. Named to evoke the vital internal layers of a tree’s living structure, Xylem is a place where visitors may gather to converse, contemplate the views of the aspen and cottonwood trees near the bank of Grove Creek, or sit and meditate in solitude. The form of the house is entirely based on context. The curved front wall mediates the street façade by responding contextually to the neighboring houses’ setbacks. See how the eave height on the right is aligned with the neighboring house? Simple cues like this help the otherwise unusual shape blend in with the neighbors which are +100 years older. A House for Hermes is the outcome of a collaboration between the architect and a client working as an artist and landscape architect. Sited on the northwest edge of Philip Island, the project involved the conversion of a heritage-listed chicory kiln into a couple’s residence. The design was conceived as part of an ongoing exploration of what might constitute “home” or “place” in a world where prevailing conditions are of speed, dynamism and change.  Link in bio. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ House for Hermes 🖋️ @ andrewsimpsonarchitects 📸 @ peterbbennetts 📍 #Australia ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Read more on archdaily.com/projects⁣⁣⁣ #archdaily #brick #wood #refurbishment
