This is Mo’orea from above. This is our island home circled by coral reefs, enclosed by bright lagoons, covered by lush forests and walled up by soaring volcanic peaks. Everything we are surrounded by is providing us life and in return we have to respect and protect it. Captured by @ryan_borne #coralgardeners #savethereef #wethereef

For the human eye, white is a bright and brilliant color that often symbolizes purity. For the coral, white is the expression of their final plea before death. Under stress, coral bleaches and only its skeleton shines through. We are astounded everytime we witness this vivid phenomenon. Be a part of the solution by adopting a healthy coral on our website. We are island kids. We grew up spending a lot of time in nature and we always need to explore and experience more of its wilderness. Immersing ourselves in the jungle while inhaling its fresh air reminds us how we are all connected. Did you know that coral reefs are described as the tropical forests of the ocean? They both produce the oxygen we breathe. The more we learn from nature, the more we want to protect it. Video by our brother @ryan_borne #coralgardeners #savethereef #wethereef

We are beyond grateful to have a community that supports our work. Here is our restoration team working on an entire nursery table that has been adopted by one of our supporters. It takes approximately three days to collect, clean and place up to 100 corals to set a table. Once they are judged healthy enough, those corals are replanted onto the reefs bringing a lot of new life. You can learn more about adoption options on our website. Every year the world’s best surfers come here in French Polynesia to surf the mythical wave of Teahupo’o. Like above, the reef below is a cosmical nature spectacle. This year we had the honnor to work in collaboration with @wsl and @wslpure to raise awareness around the crisis facing coral reefs and plant corals. Until next year! The reefs have always been our playground. Today, the vibrant life we used to witness is fading from it, but we still have hope. We will never stop patrolling and protecting our beloved reefs. In the Kumulipo (the Hawaiian creation chant ) corals are described as the base of every form of life on earth. Then come the animals, the plants and us. Today, they could be the first organisms to collapse. Let’s be the change, adopt your coral! Captured by @mishkusk #coralgardeners #wethereef #savethereef @coralgardenershawaii

The World Surf League joined us in our mission to save the reefs. Their athletes visited us in Mo’orea to learn about our project and help us plant corals. The reef is providing them with the waves they surf. No reef - No Teahupo’o. Join the movement, adopt your coral online. Let’s Save The Reef! Corals are animals living in symbiosis with an algae called zooxanthellae. The bewitched kaleidoscope that we can see underwater is created by this algae. Isn’t it astonishing that such a small thing can color an entire reef? Add your coral to the reef by adopting one on our website. Sharks are the wisdom of the ocean. They are one of the oldest creatures on earth and one of the most vital to the ecosystem. We are grateful to have black tip reef sharks patrolling yearly around our island and always mesmerizing us. Today the sharks are threatened. During #SharkWeek we continue to work in order to protect all the ocean species from those apex predators to the corals. captured by @ryan_borne #savethesharks #savethereef #wethereef

Words of our ambassador @chelseakauai "Above water our day is filled with things. Everything feels so.. urgent. It's about productivity, connectivity, everything so beautifully loudly asking for attention. Underwater is quiet time. It's a game counted in heartbeats. How mindfully can we move, how deeply can we breath, how gracefully can we simultaneously be living and dying, loving and letting go" Join our movement and save the ocean with us. Here is Tehapai, one of our volunteers, gently holding a coral of the species "Pocillopora verrucosa". Tehapai found this broken piece of coral on the sand; half of it was already dead. He will remove the dead part with coral clippers and attach a bamboo stem before moving the coral to our nursery for four weeks. When our scientists estimate that the coral is strong enough, Tehapai and the crew will plant it onto damaged areas of reef, giving it new life. Adopt your coral on our website. We have had a pretty busy week traveling to Hawaii for the premiere of @savethereef documentary. We met a lot of amazing people, Hawaiian charities and visited wonderful places. We need to do something for the reefs there! In the meantime, our team in Tahiti was planting corals everyday. Spending 7 to 8 hours in the water a day! We are so motivated! Let’s Save The Reef! Here is a giant clam. The mollusk contributes to filter 4.5 gallons of seawater per day and keep our oceans clean. Fun fact, both corals and giant clam possess zooxanthellae (algae ) which give them beautiful colors and nutrients. Help us save them by adopting your coral on our website.
