Toward the end of last year, I experienced the most INCREDIBLE natural phenomena I have ever seen!!! . We made our way down along the coast to Lorne, hoping to catch a glimpse of the rare bioluminescence algae that had been glowing amongst the waves. Surly enough in a section of beach just outside of Lorne we spotted this intense blue glow!! Absolutely fizzing with excitement we ran down to the beach and watched in awe. About half an hour passed, flashes of intense lightning started to roll in. We couldn’t believe our eyes!! 😱😍 @tj_searle @nikonaustralia #mynikonlife Nikon D810 Nikkor AF-S 14-24 f2.8

The Aurora Australis from 36,000ft! 😱 . After noticing the Aurora forecast was going to be super strong (KP6 G3 ), I contemplated cancelling my flight back to Melbourne, staying in Tasmania and shooting this epic display of nature from the ground. As the morning went on the clouds rolled in and I made the tough decision to stick to my original ticket. . Fortunately, I had a window seat on the right side of the plane. Once airborne I thought to my self.. “Can you shoot the Aurora from a plane 🤔”. So I pulled out my trusty Nikon D750 and my widest lens. I then covered the window with my jacket to prevent the light reflection on the glass. After a couple blurry shots I adjusted my settings and rested the lens on the glass to prevent movement, and pushed it to the tightest angle to look as far South as possible. I then fired off 3 consecutive shots before looking at the camera... I hit the preview button... BANG!! AURORA AUSTRALIS 😵🤤😭🙌 This was taken from my evening Jetstar flight back in April 2016. This is probably up there with one of my favourite shots I have taken! Hope you enjoy this throw back 😊🤙

The Dale Tree 🌲 . Back in the 2017 right when the canola fields were in full bloom, myself and a few other photography mates (tagged ) set out to meet up with the iconic duo, Dale and Karlie from @dkphotographyau ! It was such an incredible time meeting these guys. . Dale, like always, had everyone in stitches through out the day! Even though I only got to hang out with him in person for a few hours to see just how much positive energy and love for photography he had! . Every time I opened Instagram, I would always go search for their stories and catch up on what ever he was up to next! He was always contactable and was amazing at giving advice to anyone that reached out. . As you all are most likely aware, he past away on the 20th of June 2019, pursuing his dream and storm chasing in tornado alley in the USA. It has been a strange few days since and even tho I didn’t know him personally, it has truly been upsetting and tough to process! It’s a massive loss for the photography community and for those closest to him. Dale leaves behind his amazing wife Karlie and 10 month old girl, Mia. My condolences go out to you both and to the family! . This shot was taken on that day I met these incredible guys and although you can’t see him, Dale was just behind this tree shooting from a different perspective. . I’m really gunna miss you mate! ❤️

Gibson Steps, Great Ocean Road - Australia . One hand clinging on to wet stone and the other holding my camera down in the cavity. The tide was up and the waves crashing over where I was situated! I managed to get in and out unscathed and still in possession of my trusty D810 😂 I hope you enjoy the shot! . Absolutely pumped for our first Nikon School Workshops to kick off in July with @nikonaustralia on the Great Ocean Road! Join myself and fellow Nikon photographer, Sarah Hatton @iso100_photography , on this epic workshop. We are excited to share our knowledge and to teach you some epic skills to take your photography to the next level! Uluru - Australia 🇦🇺 . After spending a bit of time overseas exploring what other countries have to offer, it’s always nice to get back home! Australia has so much to explore, from the pristine coastlines to the vast outback, it sure is an incredible country to live in! . This 550 million year old sandstone monolith, sits in the heart of the Northern Territory’s arid Red Centre! . It is seriously such a surreal feeling being there. I’m not quite sure what it is that’s almost overwhelming about the area. Walking around the base of Ayers Rock is another unrecognised feeling that I had. Maybe it’s the sheer scale of this rock that impede’s on you as you stare up the red stone walls. Either way.. if you haven’t been it’s gotta be put on the bucket list! . This was a hand held shot taken about an hour before sunset. The light was beautiful! With this simple shot, I wanted to give the viewer a representation of what it is like to stand there and enjoy it with your own eyes! . Have you ever been? What was your experience?? 😃🤙 . @nikonaustralia #mynikonlife 📷Nikon D850 👓Nikkor AF-S 14-24 f2.8

Diamond Beach, Iceland. 💎 . One of the most surreal places I have ever been to! A shoreline full of washed up ice originating from a nearby glacier. These chunks of ice get tumbled around and polished on the black volcanic sand beneath. . After spending a couple hours dodging the waves, I came across this interesting piece! . As I stood out on the beach at Stingray Bay, the lightning started to roll in. I assumed it would pass by out over the ocean... how wrong I was! . The first shot I captured was a nice little bolt between the two islands, absolutely stoked I stood there continuing to snap away.. within less than a minute that all changed!! . The wind and rain started rolling in hard! I ran back to the rocks that line the beach, set the camera back up and than.. CRACK!! Shit scared, I wiped the lens and braved one my more shot. At this point, the rain and wind was beyond a joke. I fired away...... BANG!!! 😱⚡️ This incredibly large bolt lit up the whole scene revealing the wind and rain engulfing the two islands. Instantaneously, I packed up my waterlogged gear and bailed the hell out of there! 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️ . Side Note: Did you ever see ‘Odd Ball’ the movie? The island on the left is Penguin Island. This is where the Maremma dogs protect the small population of penguins! #oddball #penguinisland @nikonaustralia #mynikonlife Nikon D810 Nikkor 14-24 f2.8

Beauchamp Falls 💦 . I absolutely love the walk down to these stunning falls but I must say, Beauchamp falls is definitely one of the more difficult falls to get a unique comp at. Iv shot here a number of times but never really liked what I have come away with. . This past weekend while co hosting a Great Ocean Road Workshop, I scanned the edge of the stream of this beautiful little spot and came across these little mushrooms - clinging to life on old washed up log! . This unusual pink salt bed was such a strange sight to see! . The colour is due to the presence of red algae that, along with the solid salt bed of the lakes, create this unusual hue. The pink is at its most intense after rain, due to fresh nutrients being washed into the lakes, which in turn trigger the growth of algae. . The name of this place? Yep, you guessed it, Pink Lake. Haha how original! 🤣 . Always an awesome trip with my partner in crime! @tj_searle 💁🏼‍♀️ xx . #mynikonlife @nikonaustralia Nikon D810 Nikkor 14-24 f2.8

Bombo Quarry 🔥💦 . It was incredible to finally get to this unique place as it had been on my list for years! It truely is like you are on another planet. These unusual basalt columns line the Bombo Quarry Headland made for and impressive scene to walk into at sunrise! . Over the past month I have had the opportunity to test out the Nikon Z7 and... WOW. This thing is an absolute weapon! it’s really strange coming from a D850 body to something a lot more compact and yet houses equally such epic power and performance! . With this shot I utilised the ‘Focus Peaking’ capabilities, making sure that I nailed some super close foreground details without loss of focus. ‘Focus Peaking’ activates little red dots outlining what you have in focus, making it a hell of a lot more reliable to get your shot super crisp! . #mynikonlife @nikonaustralia 📷 Nikon Z7 👓 Nikkor 14-24 f2.8 .
