If you are a Fashion Film director don’t miss this! The SHOWstudio Fashion Film Awards are back for 2019 and this year we have partnered with @harrods to find the next great fashion film maker. Entrants will have the opportunity to see their work showcased on SHOWstudio and a select few will be shown inside Harrods’ iconic Knightsbridge store. See our 'Fashion Film Awards 2019 in partnership with Harrods' project on SHOWstudio.com and submit your film! #SHOWstudioXHarrods I see new fashion films every day from the submissions I get sent on SHOWstudio and it’s interesting to see the emerging trends for this new medium, for example, many of the new fashion film directors are women in contrast to fashion photography which is very heavily male dominated. Another trend is that Russia seems particularly good at Fashion Film . I wonder if it is down to the history of Russian cinema with great impressionistic film makers like Tarkovsky and films which are far less dependent on a conventional narrative , this suits fashion film which is a non narrative film medium solely there to show clothes in movement and create predictive desire . Fittingly here is last times SHOWstudio’s Fashiom Film Award winner which was made in .....Russia ! Clip from ‘Outlaw 2’ Direction: @bashkaev and @di_minrakhmanova Fashion: @outlaw_moscow

@nick_knight interesting point about Russian film. Artistically, there is also Malevich and Suprematism ... non-conventional response to extreme weather may beget a-linear sense of humor. Volatile. Movement. Focal points to a min. Thanks for the nice share!!
