Africa’s unique diversity of wildlife ⁣🦁 ⁣⁣🦏🦒& habitats has the potential to transform⠀ the continent’s economy: nature-based tourism could improve the livelihoods of many people by creating jobs.⠀ ⠀ However, at present many governments are scaling back on protection because of limited budgets needed for other pressing public needs.⠀ ⠀ ⁣➡For governments to gain the most of protected areas, they should create national tourism plans for protected areas and integrate them into the economic plans of the country.⠀ ⠀ / A report produced by Space for Giants Club and the UN Environment Programme⠀

Environmental disasters such as hurricanes 🌀🌀🌀 do not play out in a vacuum. ⠀ Social & economic factors dictate which countries & communities will be hardest hit.⠀ Increased flooding, for example, is not just caused by increased rainfall, but also by poor infrastructure. ⠀ ⁣➡We must urgently find ways to effectively fight disasters through proper preparation. ⠀

Moss is an effective natural filter pollutant of air. Innovative technology is using this purifier to improve city air. Young environmental entrepreneurs at @green_city_solutions have created City Tree, which is both an air purifier and a spectacular plant display. It combines this moss air purifying factor with remote technology to increase the air flow through the 'trees', allowing them to 'suck up' and clean more air than normal. The amount they filter can be increased depending on pollution levels at different times of day. #BeatAirPollution #YoungChamps #SolveDifferent 📷 @green_city_solutions

@theblackmambas is a group of 14 women who have taken up the mandate to protect the wildlife in Kruger National Park 🇿🇦 by educating the community about the importance of conservation as well as gathering information from locals about poachers. They courageously track 126km of the park’s border everyday looking for snare traps, inspecting the electric border fence and searching cars. By doing this, poaching in the reserve has decreased by 75% As we celebrate #WorldRangersDay tomorrow, we should thank the Black Mambas for their great efforts in ensuring conservation of wildlife in Kruger National Park. #WildforLife Photo: Julia Gunther
