Get away from the crowd and venture into the amazing solitude of #CapitolReef #NationalPark in #Utah Marked hiking routes lead into narrow, twisting gorges, slot canyons and to spectacular viewpoints high atop the Waterpocket Fold. Water, wind and gravity have shaped Cathedral Valley's free-standing monoliths, or temples, out of the soft reddish-orange sandstone, leaving visitors feeling like they’ve stumbled onto an alien planet. Enjoy the beauty, but remember to take plenty of water and Leave No Trace. Photo @CapitolReefNPS by Dan Mitler ( ). #travel #FindYourPark #usinterior

One of Interior’s nine bureaus, the Bureau of Land Management was established on July 16, 1946, when the General Land Office and the U.S. Grazing Service were merged. More than 70 years later, the #BLM remains a small agency with a big job - managing public lands for multiple-uses like recreation and natural resource development on more than 245 million acres of public land. From working with family ranchers to big business, protecting untrammeled wilderness and wildlife habitat, and providing visitors with epic adventures in stunning settings, 10,000 passionate employees work hard every day for the benefit of present and future generations. Isn’t this baby muskox so cute! At Bering Land Bridge National Preserve in #Alaska , muskoxen live in complex social circles. You may see a herd of up to 75 muskoxen frolicking through the tundra, loafing in meadows or splashing around in puddles. When danger approaches, muskoxen stick together. If there is only a single predator, they form a line of defense in the direction of that predator. If there are multiple predators, the #muskoxen form a circle with their heads and horns all facing outward, making the circle impenetrable. Near the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway in #NorthCarolina , an ancient granite monolith rises above the surrounding forested mountains.
